A few weeks ago, Caleb was flipping through a
Christian magazine and spotted an amazing treasure....the full armor of God
play set! He wanted it so badly and me, being the clever mother I am (haha!),
told him I would order it if he could memorize what every piece of the armor
represented by the time his daddy came home from work. Now, this is a popular
scripture passage in our home but Caleb had not memorized it yet. So, I went
about my way doing chores and getting dinner ready and about an hour later,
Caleb comes barreling down the stairs reciting this passage from Ephesians 6!
This child had every piece of armor in memory
and was ready for battle! Lol! Needless so say, I was extremely proud of my son
(and a little surprised. Lol!) for his determination and I placed the order.
The order came in today and he shared the significance of each piece as he put
it on. He now has, not only a cool costume play set, but this important
treasure from scripture embedded in his heart and mind. What a great reminder,
daily, as we enter the battlefield!
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put
on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s
schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and
against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on
the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to
stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm
then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes
from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,
with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the
helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And
pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s
people."
