I'm amazed at how my Savior can take any and every circumstance around me to show me more about him. My prayer has always been that this journey of life I'm on would continually bring honor and glory to him, so by using every opportunity; my mistakes, my successes, and my day-to-day adventures, he teaches me how to use it for his glory. This life he blessed me with is ALL about him! So, these are my thoughts, my heart cries, and my lessons from his glorious Word. These are the teachable moments from my Savior!

Psalm 25:4-5 "Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

~ Work of Art ~

Have you ever looked at a knitted blanket or tapestry and seen how intricately those threads are woven together to form a beautiful piece of art? I have never been able to knit or sew but I am fascinated and a bit jealous of people that can. It truly is an art and I love to watch how a person can take several different color threads and begin knitting them together and the end result is a magnificent blanket or throw that can take your breath away.

At night when I put my kids to bed, the last thing I do is kiss them and remind them that God made them very special, that there is no one else just like them and that he has a great purpose for their lives.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;” Psalm 139:13-14.

This always brings a smile to their faces and is a very exciting thought! When I look at my family I see how God took Matt and me with two very different color threads and began to knit us together, 19 years ago, the day we said, “I do”. Then as we had Ben, the thread he carried was one that added another vibrancy to the work of art God was forming. Then came along Callie and her thread was also full of color, a color that was needed to continue the work. When Caleb entered our family, his unique thread also started being woven into the tapestry that is the “Jordan Family”. As God weaves and knits my family’s beautifully colored threads together it becomes a tapestry for his glory. You see each thread on its own is very special and distinctive, but knitted together they become stronger, full of vibrant color and dimension that evolves into a work of art. He created each of us special, with very different character traits and gifts that on their own can do great things, but as God knits our threads together for his glory, we become stronger and more unified in the call to serve and worship him. Our family’s desire is to honor & glorify our Master with everything we have! Jesus is the center of this family! Through him our lives have meaning and worth and together we are a beautiful work of art for his glory.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph. 2:10

What I find so exciting is right here in Ephesians, it says, “we are God’s workmanship…”! Wow, how special are we? As you look into the “work of art” that is your family, whether you are single, married, have children, or whatever your situation is, know that you are special and beautiful in God’s eyes! Daily he continues this work of beautiful art because he loves you so! Read and meditate on both these scriptures this week, Psalm 139:13-14 and Eph. 2:10. Find joy in the Word! We are wonderfully made! As the saying goes, “God don’t make no junk.” I heard this many times growing up and it is true. God has made us in his image to do great and mighty things for him. It’s ALL about HIM!

Blessings~

Allison
