I'm amazed at how my Savior can take any and every circumstance around me to show me more about him. My prayer has always been that this journey of life I'm on would continually bring honor and glory to him, so by using every opportunity; my mistakes, my successes, and my day-to-day adventures, he teaches me how to use it for his glory. This life he blessed me with is ALL about him! So, these are my thoughts, my heart cries, and my lessons from his glorious Word. These are the teachable moments from my Savior!

Psalm 25:4-5 "Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

"A Smile for Weary Shoes"

I love shoes! (I know you all find that hard to believe! HA!HA!) Shoes are such a fun accessory to an outfit! You can take a plain old outfit and put a “sassy” pair of shoes with it and it really changes the whole look. For you men, pardon the word “sassy” and let me change it to “cool”! Shoes can really tell a lot about your personality as well. They are just FUN! Well, last summer I had taken Callie out for back-to-school shopping and we were trying to find her some new tennis shoes for school. The store was extremely busy as many people were out doing the same thing we were and because of the shelves, all I could see of the next aisle were people’s feet. I began to notice their shoes. Some were really cute, some were not so cute, and some were in desperate need of the nearest trashcan. You know what I’m talking about; those shoes that are so worn, that they would probably walk over and throw themselves in the trashcan if they could just to put themselves out of their own misery!

As I watched, I not only noticed their shoes, but the way those people walked and carried their feet. It may sound strange, so please don’t hold this against me, but I really started to think about the people that those shoes belonged to. By watching their feet, I could tell some were weary, (maybe from too much shopping), some were excited, (new shoes are always fun to buy), and some were hurried and frustrated. But by looking at their feet, I had to stop and pray for those that really captured my attention. I felt as though those shoes had a story behind them. Where had those shoes walked, what had they been through? For some, many burdens are carried around on those shoes, which in turn makes for weary feet. In my interest of looking at cute little shoes, the Lord pricked my heart for those wearing the shoes and I am so glad he did.

Proverbs 12:25 “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.”

As we finished our shoe shopping excursion, we walked down the aisles and I began looking for the faces that belonged to those shoes. I wanted in some way for them know that they were cared and prayed for that day. I began to offer a smile and a kind word to some of those that I could easily spot. Yes, some of those faces matched their worn out shoes and a smile did manage to crack on a few of them. But I was taught another valuable lesson that day from my wonderful Lord! He never ceases to amaze me with such teachable moments in very unsuspecting places.

There are many that cross our paths everyday that are burdened and weary. We cannot always solve their problems but we can lift them up to the Father and offer the love and encouragement that they may need at that very moment. I pray that we all look for ways this week to offer a smile and a kind word that can cheer an anxious heart and weary feet!

Love & prayers to you for a beautiful week!

Blessings~

Allison
